Async client communication that actually works

Daily updates, Loom walkthroughs, and decision logs — how we run projects without daily standups.

Most client projects don't need daily standups. They need clarity — and a rhythm that respects async work across time zones.

The daily update

Every working day, clients get a short written update:

  • What shipped today (with preview link)
  • What's next
  • Any decisions needed from them

No meetings required unless something is blocked.

Loom for complex changes

When a UI change or architecture decision is easier to show than describe, we record a 3–5 minute Loom walkthrough. Clients watch on their schedule and reply in the thread.

Decision logs

Every scope or product decision gets logged in a shared doc: date, decision, rationale, and who approved it. This prevents "I thought we agreed to X" conversations three weeks later.

Response time

We reply to client messages within one business day — usually the same day. Urgent blockers get a same-hour response when possible.
